A spokeswoman for Andrew Lloyd Weber announced on Sunday 精力剤that Mr. Lloyd Weber, the 61-year-old composer of “Evita” and other musicals, has prostate cancer, The Associated Press reported. The cancer is in the early stages, the statement said, adding that Mr. Lloyd Weber, above left, is undergoing treatment and “expects to be fully back at work before the end of the year.” Rehearsals for his new musical, “Love Never Dies,” a sequel to “The Phantom of the Opera,” are to begin in January, with performances scheduled to begin in London at the Adelphi Theater on Feb. 20, and on Broadway in November 2010. …

The pop world received its own share of bad news on Saturday when Morrissey, the former Smiths frontman, collapsed during a performance and was taken to the hospital for respiratory problems, The Associated Press reported. Morrissey, above right, was performing at the Oasis Leisure Center in Swindon, west of LondonTiffanyas part of his Swords tour when he collapsed.

Two band members pulled him offstage, and he was taken to Great Western Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said he was kept overnight as a precautionary measure but was released on Sunday morning.
